Microsoft is internally discussing whether to delay or scale back its most ambitious clean energy goal: achieving 100% hourly clean energy matching by 2030. This target is under pressure due to the company's rapid expansion of AI data centers. Although Microsoft has not publicly announced it, according to Bloomberg, the company is weighing whether the hourly matching goal has become an obstacle to its AI ambitions. A Microsoft spokesperson said the company will continue to seek opportunities to maintain its annual matching target but declined to comment on the internal debate over the hourly goal. The hourly target is stricter than the annual target, helping to drive a closer match between clean energy and the company's electricity consumption patterns, while the annual target is looser and often seen as an accounting trick. Big tech companies like Microsoft, Meta, Google, and Apple lead in emissions reduction, having achieved annual carbon neutrality, but data center expansion is pushing them toward natural gas power. Last month, Microsoft announced a partnership with Chevron and Engine No. 1 to build a natural gas plant in West Texas with a capacity of up to 5 gigawatts. Despite this, Microsoft is still seen as a leader in pursuing net-zero emissions and plans to remove more carbon than it produces by 2030. To maintain a consistent working environment across different computers, I remap keys so that the same keys have the same functions across operating systems—for example, the Command key on Mac functions the same as the Control key on Windows and Linux. Additionally, I use two .bashrc files on different operating systems, but they both reference a common .bash_aliases file to keep aliases consistent. For Emacs, I use a single init.el file that contains branching logic for different operating systems and hostnames.

Why not have changes in API behavior depend on the SDK you link against?
The CoInitializeSecurity function requires an absolute security descriptor, while many Windows functions generate self-relative security descriptors, necessitating a conversion from relative to absolute.
