Observation
The strongest movers across peer ETF holdings today are listed below:
| DTD | Stock Ticker | Name | Held by ETFs | analysis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25.09 | NYSE:RNG | RingCentral, Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | RingCentral’s 25.09% jump on July 24 was driven primarily by a Q2 earnings beat and raised full-year guidance, with the company reporting adjusted EPS of $1.22 on $657 million of revenue versus estimates and lifting 2026 outlook for earnings and revenue. The move was further supported by bullish operating updates, including a 67% dividend increase, deeper collaboration with OpenAI, and an expanded NICE distribution agreement, which reinforced confidence in cash generation and AI momentum. [1][2][4] |
| 11.01 | NYSE:DLR | Digital Realty Trust, Inc. | ['ARCA:IGPT'] | Digital Realty’s 11% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily driven by a strong Q2 earnings beat and a material raise to 2026 FFO and revenue guidance, highlighting accelerating data-center demand from cloud and AI customers.[1][2] A same-day upgrade from TD Cowen from Hold to Buy, with a higher $222 price target, reinforced the positive narrative and helped the shares gap up sharply at the open.[2] Investors also responded to growing AI-infrastructure positioning and bullish commentary from other analysts, which supported a re-rating of the stock toward “AI data center” growth multiples.[1][2] |
| 9.81 | NYSE:OII | Oceaneering International, Inc. | ['NasdaqGM:ROBT'] | Oceaneering International’s 9.8% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily driven by a strong Q2 2026 earnings beat and raised full‑year guidance, which re‑priced the stock higher on improved growth and profitability expectations.[2][9][11] The company reported double‑digit revenue and EBITDA growth, Q2 adjusted EPS of $0.63 versus $0.46 consensus, revenue of $768.2M versus $735.7M, adjusted EBITDA above the top of guidance, and increased 2026 EBITDA guidance to $400–$440M, all of which supported a sharp post‑print rally.[2][9][11] A concurrent positive contract award from the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit for an extra‑large uncrewed undersea vehicle added a strategic defense growth angle, reinforcing investor enthusiasm and momentum buying into the move.[2] |
| 9.3 | SAP | SAP SE | ['LSE:RBOT', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:FDTX', 'XTRA:XAIX', 'NasdaqGM:AGIX'] | SAP SE’s 9.3% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily driven by a strong quarterly earnings release that beat key institutional expectations, highlighted by accelerated cloud transition to S/4HANA, record cloud backlog, and improving margins and free cash flow.[1][2] A second key driver was renewed enthusiasm around SAP’s cloud and AI strategy, with investors rewarding evidence of higher-value AI-infused contracts and more predictable recurring revenue.[1][2] Broader rotation back into high-quality enterprise software names provided an additional tailwind to the move.[2] |
| 9.0 | NasdaqGM:VERX | Vertex, Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | Vertex’s 9.0% move on 2026-07-24 was most likely driven by a short-term rebound/catalyst-driven bounce rather than a fresh company-specific disclosure; MarketBeat reported the stock was up about 7.1% that day, with no clear earnings or guidance headline in the provided results. The move also fit the backdrop of a heavily sold-off name, with Vertex still down sharply over the prior year, which can amplify buying on modest positive sentiment. A secondary driver may have been positive analyst sentiment around the stock being “depressed” after the prior selloff, but the evidence in the supplied results does not show a definitive same-day news trigger. |
| 8.41 | NYSE:DXC | DXC Technology Company | ['NasdaqGM:AIQ'] | DXC Technology’s 8.41% gain on July 24, 2026 appears to be a rebound move driven by technical and valuation factors rather than a specific new fundamental catalyst. The stock had previously sold off sharply on weak guidance and cautious analyst sentiment, leaving shares trading well below the 200-day moving average and consensus price targets, which can attract short-covering and value-oriented buying when selling pressure abates.[1][12] Trading comments around that date highlight relatively stable fundamentals, high institutional ownership, and “fairly valued” status within Software & IT Services, which likely supported the recovery bid despite subdued longer-term technical signals.[2] |
| 8.4 | NasdaqGS:TEAM | Atlassian Corporation | ['ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | Atlassian’s 8.4% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily a continuation of its post-earnings re-rating, as investors extended the strong momentum following a Q3 FY26 beat and accelerating 31.6% year-over-year revenue growth highlighted earlier in the month.[5][1] The move was reinforced by ongoing enthusiasm around Atlassian’s cloud and AI initiatives, including management commentary on record cloud revenue and increased AI usage in its platforms, which have supported a roughly 30% rally over the past 30 days.[5] Broader tech sentiment was mixed on the day, so TEAM’s outperformance appears largely stock-specific rather than driven by sector or macro tailwinds.[2][6] |
| 8.15 | NasdaqGM:APPN | Appian Corporation | ['ASX:RBTZ', 'DB:XB0T', 'BATS:IGV', 'NasdaqGM:BOTZ', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT'] | Appian’s 8.15% gain on July 24, 2026 appears driven primarily by technical and sentiment factors rather than a discrete new fundamental catalyst. MarketBeat flagged that shares “gapped up” at the open following prior strength tied to better‑than‑expected Q1 results (21.5% y/y revenue growth and EPS beat), suggesting ongoing investors’ reassessment of the name after recent weakness and perceived undervaluation.[1][6] A secondary driver is improving technical signals and a relatively high institutional ownership base, which can amplify moves when the stock breaks out of a range and screens as undervalued versus software peers.[2][4] |
| 7.93 | NasdaqGS:MNDY | monday.com Ltd. | ['LSE:RBOT'] | monday.com’s 7.93% gain on 2026-07-24 appears most consistent with a rebound move tied to upbeat analyst sentiment and a broader “buy the dip” reaction after a prolonged selloff in the stock. One same-day catalyst cited was Morgan Stanley’s optimistic commentary, which helped lift shares intraday, while coverage also noted the stock had been under pressure earlier in 2026 and remains highly volatile. There is no clear company-specific earnings or disclosure event in the provided results that better explains the move. |
| 7.87 | DSY.PA | DASSAULT SYSTEMES SA | ['ARCA:THNQ'] | Dassault Systèmes’ +7.9% move on 24 July 2026 is best explained by a sharp rebound from a depressed valuation base, rather than by any identifiable company-specific news or regulatory catalyst on the day. First, recent analysis highlighted the stock as clearly undervalued versus intrinsic value models (fair value in the low‑20s versus a high‑teens trading price), which likely supported a value-driven bounce as sentiment turned more constructive after sustained underperformance.[8][9][11] Second, the broader narrative around increasing demand for digitalization, 3D design, PLM, and 3DEXPERIENCE/cloud subscriptions continues to support a medium‑term growth story, so marginal positive flows into quality European software names can produce outsized single‑day moves when liquidity is thin and positioning is light.[7][9] |
| 7.83 | NYSE:HUBS | HubSpot, Inc. | ['LSE:AIAG', 'ARCA:IGPT', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | HubSpot’s 7.83% rise on 2026-07-24 was most likely driven by investors reacting to the company’s strong Q1 update and raised guidance, which showed revenue of $881 million and EPS of $2.72 both beating estimates, alongside higher Q2 and FY 2026 outlooks.[1][13] A secondary support was still-favorable analyst sentiment, with the stock retaining a Moderate Buy consensus despite some price-target trims.[1][9] No major same-day negative company-specific catalyst appears in the provided results, so the move looks like a continuation of post-earnings optimism and guidance-driven buying.[1][13] |
| 7.76 | NasdaqGS:MBLY | Mobileye Global Inc. | ['LSE:RBOT', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT'] | Mobileye’s 7.8% gain on July 24, 2026 was driven primarily by a stronger-than-expected Q2 print and raised full-year guidance, which shifted sentiment positively after the prior day’s selloff. The company reported Q2 revenue of $508M vs. ~$482M consensus and adjusted EPS of $0.19 vs. $0.06 expected, alongside higher 2026 revenue and operating income guidance, highlighting margin leverage and resilient ADAS demand.[1][2][11] A secondary driver was follow-through buying as investors reassessed the CEO transition announced with earnings, with focus shifting from leadership risk to Mobileye’s design wins (e.g., Stellantis cloud-enhanced ADAS) and longer-term autonomous/robotaxi optionality.[1][2][11] |
| 7.44 | NOW | ServiceNow, Inc. | ['LSE:RBOT', 'LSE:AIAG', 'ARCA:LOUP', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'BATS:WTAI', 'BIT:WTAI', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT', 'XTRA:XAIX', 'NasdaqGM:AGIX'] | ServiceNow’s 7.4% gain on July 24 was driven primarily by a strong Q2 earnings beat that reassured investors on growth and AI monetization. The company reported EPS and key operating metrics ahead of consensus, highlighted accelerating adoption of its generative AI features, and raised full-year subscription revenue guidance, signaling durable demand and improved visibility.[1][2] A secondary tailwind came from positive sell-side reactions and price-target increases following the print, which reinforced the AI-driven growth narrative and helped pull enterprise software peers higher even as semis sold off.[1][2][3] |
| 7.23 | NasdaqGS:DOCU | DocuSign, Inc. | ['ARCA:IGPT', 'BATS:IGV', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | DocuSign’s 7.23% move on 2026-07-24 appears to have been driven primarily by a broad software/tech valuation tailwind rather than company-specific news, as lower Treasury yields have recently supported recurring-revenue software names. I do not see a clearly identifiable same-day DocuSign disclosure or earnings catalyst in the provided results. The stock had also been under pressure year-to-date, so a rebound on sector relief and positioning was likely a secondary support. |
| 6.67 | 6809.HK | MONTAGE TECHNOLOGY H | ['NasdaqGM:FDTX'] | Montage Technology’s 6.67% gain on 24 July 2026 was primarily driven by its newly announced A-share share repurchase plan, which signaled management’s confidence and support after recent regulatory-related weakness. The company disclosed on the prior evening that it would repurchase A-shares via centralized bidding with a RMB 3–6 billion budget and a price cap of RMB 332.90 per share over three months, funded by its own cash, explicitly to “maintain company value and shareholder interests,” which triggered strong buying interest in the Hong Kong line despite broader semiconductor sector softness.[1] Additional support came from investors re-focusing on Montage’s strong fundamental positioning as a global leader in memory interface chips leveraged to AI-driven server memory demand, helping the stock outperform peers on the day.[1] |
| 6.3 | NasdaqGM:FIVN | Five9, Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | Five9’s 6.3% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by continued investor positioning ahead of its Q2 2026 earnings release scheduled for July 30, against a backdrop of strong Q1 results and upbeat full-year guidance that highlighted accelerating AI-driven growth and margin expansion.[5][7][11] First, the stock is still reacting to Five9’s robust Q1 2026 print (revenue and EPS beats, raised full-year revenue and EPS outlook, and 68% YoY AI revenue growth), which has supported a constructive fundamental narrative into the next quarter.[5][11] Second, active trader interest has been elevated since the name was highlighted as a “stock of the week” with a bullish technical setup and perceived valuation upside, encouraging incremental buying as the chart broke higher within its cup-and-handle pattern.[7] Third, the move is occurring in the context of broadly positive analyst sentiment, with consensus ratings in the Moderate/Strong Buy range and price targets implying meaningful upside from current levels, reinforcing the bid ahead of the upcoming catalyst.[3][6][8][13] |
| 6.27 | NYSE:PATH | UiPath Inc. | ['LSE:RBOT', 'ASX:RBTZ', 'DB:XB0T', 'BATS:IGV', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:BOTZ', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | UiPath’s 6.27% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by investors repositioning ahead of the company’s upcoming fiscal 2027 earnings announcement, with buyers attracted to perceived upside versus depressed recent trading levels.[14][1] Market commentary highlighted that PATH was trading below the Street’s average target (around $13.5–$13.8) and below prior levels following guidance-related weakness, drawing in value‑oriented and contrarian interest.[1][2] A secondary factor was heavier‑than‑average trading volume and short‑term technical buying as the stock rebounded from recent lows, amplifying the move.[2][1] |
| 6.1 | NasdaqGS:ADBE | Adobe Inc. | ['LSE:AIAG', 'ARCA:IGPT', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'BATS:WTAI', 'BIT:WTAI', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:QQQ', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | Adobe’s 6.1% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by a rebound from oversold levels and a technical break above near-term resistance rather than a specific new fundamental catalyst. The stock had significantly underperformed over the prior year, trading near multi-year lows with resistance around the $218–220 area, and the move to roughly $224–225 represented a strong bounce through that range on elevated volume, consistent with short-covering and mean-reversion buying.[3][4] A secondary driver is improving sentiment around upside relative to consensus analyst targets and options-implied moves, with the stock still well below average price targets that imply substantial upside, encouraging opportunistic buying after recent downgrades and AI-competition concerns.[7][8][12] |
| 5.95 | NYSE:ACN | Accenture plc | ['ARCA:ARTY', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | Accenture’s 5.95% move on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by company-specific capital allocation news, notably its same-day announcement that it is increasing its FY2026 share repurchase program by $2 billion to $7.5 billion, a 62% year-over-year increase, which is supportive for EPS and signals management confidence in long‑term cash generation.[11] A secondary driver is sentiment reversal after the sharp downgrade-driven selloff in June, with investors reassessing the risk/reward as buyback capacity and AI-related demand narratives (highlighted in recent fundamental commentary) help stabilize the story and attract value and buyback‑focused buyers.[8][13] |
| 5.84 | NYSE:VZ | Verizon Communications Inc. | ['XTRA:XAIX'] | Verizon’s 5.84% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily driven by a stronger-than-expected Q2 earnings report, including an adjusted EPS beat and upside surprises in wireless service revenue and broadband subscriber growth, which improved confidence in the company’s cash flow and dividend profile.[1][2] A raised FY 2026 outlook, sharp improvement in free cash flow, and evidence that capital intensity is declining as C-Band deployment winds down were key positive signals for equity income investors.[1][2] A secondary tailwind came from a broader market rotation into defensive, high-dividend telecoms, which amplified the move in response to the fundamentally positive print.[2] |
| 5.84 | NasdaqGS:WDAY | Workday, Inc. | ['LSE:RBOT', 'ARCA:ARTY', 'BATS:IGV', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:QQQ', 'NasdaqGM:ROBT'] | Workday’s 5.84% move appears primarily driven by a technical rebound within its recent trading range after a prolonged drawdown, rather than a discrete company-specific news event on the day. The stock has materially underperformed year-to-date and over the last 12 months, making it more sensitive to oversold bounces and shifts in sentiment toward beaten-down growth software names.[1][2][7][11] Sector-wide factors—investor focus on enterprise software demand, AI monetization, and anticipation of the next earnings report—likely contributed to renewed buying interest as the shares approached identified support levels around the low-$130s.[7][11] |
| 5.67 | NasdaqGS:TMUS | T-Mobile US, Inc. | ['NasdaqGM:QQQ'] | TMUS’s 5.7% move on July 24 was primarily driven by a strong Q2 print and upgraded outlook that forced a positive fundamental repricing. The company reported revenue and EPS above consensus, highlighted industry-leading postpaid phone net adds, and raised full-year guidance for core adjusted EBITDA and adjusted free cash flow, signaling stronger medium-term earnings power.[1] A concurrent expansion of its shareholder return program, including higher share repurchase authorization and an increased dividend, added a second key tailwind by improving the equity story for institutional investors.[1] The move occurred against a weak telecom tape, suggesting the rally was largely stock-specific rather than sector-driven.[1] |
| 5.64 | 2513.HK | Knowledge Atlas Technology JSC Ltd | ['ARCA:CHAT'] | The 5.64% move in 2513.HK on 2026-07-24 appears most likely driven by a technical rebound and short-term trading momentum rather than any clearly identifiable same-day company-specific announcement. The strongest public evidence around that period is mixed but generally positive sell-side sentiment, including J.P. Morgan’s Buy rating and HK$1,600 target, which may have supported buying interest.[2] A secondary factor is that the stock had already shown high volatility and heavy trading in early July, with large intraday swings and multi-day gains, which can amplify follow-through moves on later sessions.[4] No direct 24 July company disclosure or major news catalyst appears in the provided results. |
| 5.64 | 2513.HK | Z AI Co Ltd | ['ARCA:CHAT'] | Z AI Co Ltd’s 5.64% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by continued momentum and follow-through buying after the sharp rebound earlier in the week, as investors repositioned following extreme volatility and the recent block trade shock. The stock had crashed on July 17 after a large auto-match trade executed at a ~28% discount to the prior close, then rebounded violently with a 40.8% surge on July 21 amid heavy net buying led by institutional accounts such as Goldman Sachs (Asia), suggesting active trading interest and short-term mean reversion dynamics rather than new fundamental news.[1][7] |
| 5.6 | NYSE:FIG | Figma, Inc. | ['ARCA:IGPT'] | Figma’s 5.6% gain on July 24, 2026 was primarily driven by continued buy-side momentum following Citigroup’s recent initiation of coverage with a Buy rating and a $36 price target earlier in the month, which reset sentiment and valuation expectations higher.[11][10] A supportive analyst backdrop, including an above‑market 12‑month target and broadly positive ratings, likely reinforced dip-buying interest as the stock has been consolidating above prior support levels near the high-teens/low‑20s range.[11][8][10] |
| 5.45 | NYSE:BILL | BILL Holdings, Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | BILL’s 5.45% gain on 2026-07-24 is most plausibly explained by a continuation of positive post-earnings sentiment, after the company recently reported an earnings beat and above-consensus guidance that drove a sharp prior-session rally.[3] A second driver was supportive sell-side sentiment, with multiple analysts maintaining Buy/Overweight views and price targets well above the trading range.[1][6][8] Technical momentum may also have helped, as recent commentary noted a breakout above trendline resistance and a bullish weekly candle.[11] |
| 5.28 | NasdaqGS:WIX | Wix.com Ltd. | ['ARCA:THNQ', 'NasdaqGM:AIQ'] | WIX’s 5.28% rise on 2026-07-24 appears most likely driven by a broader rebound in the shares rather than a clearly identifiable same-day company-specific catalyst, as the available results only confirm the move and do not show a matching earnings, guidance, or major news item that day.[1][2] The closest relevant precedent in recent coverage is analyst-driven sentiment on Wix’s core business, but that was tied to earlier trading days and does not directly explain this session.[4] In the absence of a confirmed same-day catalyst, the move is best attributed to stock-specific trading flows and general market sentiment. |
| 5.26 | NasdaqGS:INTU | Intuit Inc. | ['LSE:AIAG', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'NasdaqGM:FDTX', 'NasdaqGM:QQQ', 'XTRA:XAIX'] | Intuit’s 5.26% gain on July 24, 2026 is best interpreted as a technical rebound and position-adjustment move rather than a reaction to a specific new fundamental catalyst, given the absence of any notable company or sector news on the day and no identifiable earnings, guidance, regulatory, or macro data surprise tied directly to INTU. Key driver 1: short-term technical factors and mean reversion following prior underperformance and elevated volatility in 2026, with investors adding exposure to a high-quality software compounder after earlier drawdowns. Key driver 2: broader style flows favoring large-cap software and AI-adjacent names, which likely supported Intuit’s move as part of a sector rotation rather than stock-specific headlines. |
| 5.21 | NYSE:PD | PagerDuty, Inc. | ['LSE:RBOT', 'BATS:IGV'] | PagerDuty’s +5.2% move appears primarily driven by a rebound and bargain hunting following the sharp selloff earlier in the week after Morgan Stanley’s downgrade and AI-competition concerns, with investors reassessing valuation and near-term downside after the stock screened poorly but expectations were already reset.[1][5] A secondary driver is ongoing focus on the name as a potential value opportunity, with multiple research and commentary pieces highlighting discounted cash-flow upside and below-peer multiples, which can attract incremental buyers on up days even without new company-specific news. |
| 5.21 | NYSE:GWRE | Guidewire Software, Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | Guidewire Software’s 5.2% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily to be a continued rebound from its earlier post‑earnings selloff, as investors reassessed the strong Q3 results, raised FY26 guidance, and solid cloud/ARR growth profile that were initially overshadowed by ARR guidance concerns.[7][8] The move also reflects improving sentiment supported by ongoing buyback capacity and a still-supportive analyst stance with a Buy consensus and substantial upside versus average price targets, drawing in momentum and recovery buyers after the June decline.[3][8] |
| 5.2 | TSX:TRI | Thomson Reuters Corporation | ['NasdaqGM:AIQ', 'NasdaqGM:QQQ'] | Thomson Reuters’ 5.2% move on 2026-07-24 appears most likely driven by company-specific momentum rather than a broad market move, as there was no major same-day catalyst in the provided results. The closest cited evidence is that TRI had already been rallying on investor enthusiasm around its business quality and possible index inclusion, which can keep the stock bid even on otherwise quiet sessions.[13][11] Broader TSX conditions were not strong enough to explain the move on their own, since the index was only modestly higher in the comparable cited market data.[1] |
| 5.14 | IOT | Samsara Inc. | ['LSE:AIAG', 'ARCA:IGPT', 'ARCA:LRNZ', 'ARCA:THNQ', 'BATS:IGV', 'NasdaqGM:AGIX'] | Samsara’s 5.1% move on July 24, 2026 appears driven primarily by continued bullish sentiment around its high-growth, AI-enabled connected operations platform and strong recent earnings/revenue momentum, with the stock moving broadly in line with options-implied volatility for that expiration date.[3][7] Buy-rated analyst positioning with upside to target prices, very healthy fundamentals, and high institutional ownership likely reinforced demand for the name on the day.[1][9][12] No major company-specific news or regulatory events were identified for July 24 itself, suggesting the move was largely an extension of positive post-earnings and AI-growth narratives rather than a reaction to fresh disclosures. |
| 5.12 | NasdaqGS:FRSH | Freshworks Inc. | ['BATS:IGV'] | Freshworks’ 5.12% gain on July 24, 2026 appears primarily driven by ongoing positive sentiment following its reaffirmed 2026 outlook, CRO appointment, and the sizable US$400 million share repurchase authorization announced earlier in March, which continue to underpin confidence in capital return and execution. Ranked second, the move fits within a broader multi-week rally in FRSH, with the stock up double digits over the prior weeks and trading near the upper end of its recent range, as investors position ahead of upcoming earnings and AI-related growth catalysts. |
| 5.1 | NYSE:T | AT&T Inc. | ['XTRA:XAIX'] | AT&T’s 5.1% gain on July 24 was driven primarily by follow-through buying on its better‑than‑expected Q2 earnings and capital return story, with investors reacting to the EPS beat, solid wireless/fiber trends, and strong free cash flow supporting dividends and debt reduction.[1][3] A new $10B accelerated share repurchase plan and guidance for more than $45B in capital returns through 2026–2028 further boosted sentiment, signaling management confidence in the equity and attracting value and income-oriented buyers.[1] Elevated trading volume and continued positive analyst stance (Moderate Buy consensus, upside to target prices) reinforced the move as the stock outperformed a weak telecom sector backdrop.[2][3] |
| 5.08 | TRMB | TRIMBLE INC | ['BATS:IGV'] | Trimble’s 5.1% gain on July 24 was driven primarily by renewed investor enthusiasm around a potential sale of its Transportation & Logistics division, with trading reflecting a fresh wave of positioning as that strategic review story regained traction after the initial Axios report that Goldman Sachs had been hired to explore a divestiture. [1] A secondary support for the move is that investors continue to view Trimble as fundamentally sound and modestly undervalued relative to its long‑term earnings and ARR growth profile, against a backdrop of generally positive analyst ratings and meaningful upside to consensus target prices. Oracle secures a $7 billion contract to supply the Pentagon with essential software and services.
The U.S. Department of Defense recently signed a software subscription contract with Oracle worth nearly $7 billion over ten years, covering the U.S. military, Coast Guard, and intelligence agencies. The agreement includes a five-year base term and involves perpetual licenses, subscription-based software licenses, maintenance, and consulting services. Chief Information Officer Kirsten Davies stated that the new contract is expected to save taxpayers at least $441 million. After the announcement, Oracle's stock rose over 3% in a single day, but it has fallen year-to-date due to concerns over AI disruption. Apple has postponed the global launch date of its first smart glasses from early 2027 to the Worldwide Developers Conference, and will begin small-scale shipments before the end of the year. This adjustment is mainly due to privacy concerns. Unlike Meta's smart glasses, which have been questioned over privacy issues, Apple will strive to reshape its privacy-centric brand image through technologies such as on-device computing, no facial recognition algorithms, and refusing to use user data to train AI models. This move shows that large tech companies are increasingly focusing on the balance between technological ethics and user trust when advancing metaverse devices, and also provides a reference privacy protection framework for the entire industry.

Adding a backup internet WAN on my OPNsense router
I added a backup internet WAN on my OPNsense router to deal with two consecutive weeks of Spectrum network outages. By connecting a portable 5G gateway to the router's ETH2 port and configuring it as WAN2 in OPNsense, I achieved automatic network failover. After setting the priority, I can easily switch between the main network and the backup network, avoiding the hassle of manually plugging and unplugging devices.
Making an agile version of a Windows Runtime delegate in C++/WinRT, part 4
We previously wrote a wrapper delegate to check whether the calling context matches the captured context. By using the CoGetContextToken function, we can obtain an integer that uniquely identifies the current context, thus avoiding comparisons of COM objects. This improves efficiency, but there are still flaws in the code, which will be discussed later.
Permutation roots
In a permutation of n elements, if there exists a permutation τ such that applying τ twice has the same effect as applying σ once, then σ is called the square of τ, and τ is called the square root of σ. Through construction, we find that the permutation σ = (5, 1, 2, 0, 4, 3) has four square roots, while the rotation permutation (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 0) has no square roots. The condition for a permutation σ to have a square root is that the number of cycles of even length in σ is even.
Why $550 million in medical debt only cost $5.5 million
A few weeks ago, Snap's CEO became the focus of U.S. news due to a large donation made with his wife, but major media outlets did not explicitly mention the donation amount in their reports, instead highlighting the figure of $5.5 million. Upon reading further, it turned out they actually donated only one percent of that amount, raising questions about the motive for exaggerating the donation figure, which appears to be a PR stunt.
exp_q
The function expq(x) is defined by taking the power series of the exponential function exp(x) and retaining only the terms whose indices are multiples of q. For example, exp2(x) retains the even terms and equals cosh(x). When q=4, the closed form of expq(x) can be obtained via ω = exp(2πi / q). Although Mathematica does not have a built-in expq(x) function, it can be implemented using the Mittag-Leffler function.
Book Review: Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman ★★⯪☆☆
The plot of this book revolves around the Vogon Constructor Fleet destroying Earth due to bureaucratic delays, forcing people to participate in The Hunger Games, and narrated by a Twitch streamer. Although the book is filled with pop culture and gaming elements, the overall reading experience feels tedious due to repetitive battle descriptions and lengthy item lists. While it has found its own fan base, I am not among them.
What happened to ARCNET
ARCNET was the first commercialized local area network standard, launched in 1977, predating Ethernet and Token Ring. Although ARCNET was popular in the market for about 15 years due to its low cost and efficiency, its market share was gradually overtaken as Ethernet technology advanced and market demands changed. The 20-megabit ARCNET Plus launched in 1992 failed to reverse the decline due to latency and high pricing, ultimately leading users to switch to the more competitive Ethernet.
Weekly Update 514: This Week in Data Breaches
The security breach at Australia's Origin Energy made headlines this week, involving multiple aspects. The company said, "Rest assured, your credit card information is safe," while hackers claimed otherwise.
Reading List 07/25/26
This week's reading list covers topics including China's electric vehicle subsidies, future gas turbine technology, and the U.S.-Saudi nuclear deal. China will impose a 2% consumption tax on lithium-ion batteries starting September 1, increasing to 4% next year. Additionally, TSMC is accelerating its investment in Arizona due to AI demand and plans to raise prices by up to 10% starting in 2027.
Excel column numbering
Excel's column labels use a system called bijective base-26, rather than traditional base-26. This system labels columns from A to Z, then AA to AZ, and so on, with no label corresponding to 0. Excel supported up to 256 columns before 2007, with the maximum column label being IV, and later increased to 16,384 columns, with the maximum label being XFD. Converting between column labels and numbers is relatively straightforward, but the reverse conversion is slightly more complex.
Being Linux Torvalds
When Linus Torvalds developed the first Linux kernel, he had solid computer knowledge and programming skills, but he soon stopped coding and focused on project leadership and coordination, which allowed Linux to continuously adapt to new demands and technologies. Today, with the rise of artificial intelligence, programmers should take on a similar role in projects, focusing on overall design and direction rather than reviewing code line by line, thereby improving work efficiency.
Some Quick Thoughts on EMF Camp 2026
At the recent EMF event, I chose to participate as a tourist, enjoying a relaxed experience without the pressure of giving talks or the responsibilities of volunteering. I mainly attended lectures and appreciated artworks. Although I was confused about some activities and names, I felt physically and mentally refreshed overall. Despite some minor issues, such as poor food quality and water pressure, this experience made me reflect on whether I would attend such camping events in the future.
Pluralistic: Apple's robo-repo (25 Jul 2026)
Apple's 'robot repurchase' model, by privatizing risk premiums and socializing their costs, leads to higher loan interest rates and worse terms for impoverished borrowers. The lending industry pursues high returns, making risk premiums on high-risk loans attractive, but this model often merely transfers value from customers to financial institutions in the name of financial innovation. Although mortgage loans reduce risk, asset depreciation and market volatility cannot eliminate it.
Benchmarking Qwen 3.6 35B MoE (3B active) on an RTX 3090
When benchmarking the Qwen 3.6 35B MoE model on an RTX 3090, using the 4-bit quantized version, the generation speed is about 120 tokens per second, and the prompt processing speed is nearly 2800 tokens per second. By offloading some computation to the CPU, full context length can be achieved, but the generation speed drops to 65 tokens per second. Using the CUDA version, the generation speed increases to 140 tokens per second, and the prompt processing speed exceeds 3300 tokens per second, showing the impact of the 3090's memory limitations on performance.
Podcast Notes: Ed Catmull on David Senra
In David Senra's podcast, Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull shared his views on teamwork, emphasizing the importance of the right team dynamics for creativity. He believes that tackling difficult problems leads to better outcomes, and execution is key, not the idea itself. Additionally, he mentioned that mission statements are not important, and teams should always maintain a questioning attitude to ensure the direction is correct.
Premium: The Hater’s Guide To Oracle (Part 2)
Oracle has been in decline for the past decade, surviving through acquisitions and debt, but its financial situation is worsening. Since mid-2020, the company has spent over $99 billion on AI GPUs, leading to negative cash flow and massive debt, casting doubt on its future prospects. With customer dissatisfaction and stagnant revenue, Oracle may face a survival crisis.
Making an agile version of a Windows Runtime delegate in C++/WinRT, part 5
We handled the case of non-schedulable delegates by wrapping them in a delegate that fails when scheduling is required. However, we found that we still need to destruct the non-schedulable delegate in the original context to avoid issues from destruction on the wrong thread. To address this, we designed a stateful deleter that ensures the original delegate's reference count is released in the correct context.
Book Review: Foreign Fruit - A Personal History of the Orange by Katie Goh ★⯪☆☆☆
This book attempts to intertwine plants with cultural history and autobiography, but fails to do so. The author focuses more on personal experiences, lacks in-depth exploration of the origin myths of citrus varieties, and displays a self-centered attitude toward the hardships of immigrants and their descendants, which is unsettling. Overall, the book lacks rigorous research on plant history and leaves an unpleasant impression.

Pluralistic: AI solipsists and AI cynics (24 Jul 2026)
The current AI investment frenzy has triggered over $1.4 trillion in capital inflows, even though many investors do not truly believe in AI's effectiveness. The application of AI is seen as a symptom of economic malaise, with many companies pursuing short-term profits by laying off workers and replacing them with inefficient chatbots. Behind this investment bubble lies billionaires' skepticism of others' reality and some investors' exploitation of market psychology.
Have you read it?
Articles written by AI often lack depth because both the author and the reader are encountering the content for the first time. Since the author fails to deeply think about and understand the core insights of the article, it results in a lack of genuine insight and communication.
LLMs reward expertise
Large language models (LLMs) enable everyone to become a generalist, lowering technical barriers, but true skill lies in domain knowledge. Taking the conversation between mathematician Terence Tao and ChatGPT as an example, he posed specific questions and suggestions based on his expertise, leading to deeper exchanges that ordinary users cannot achieve. People with domain knowledge can use LLMs more effectively, thereby extracting more valuable information from communication.

An Inside Look at the Relay Market Powering Token Resellers and Fraud
On July 26, 2026, Matt Lenhard conducted an in-depth investigation into China's LLM token resale market, revealing the practice of aggregating API keys to resell tokens at discounted prices. Resellers use free trials, unprotected support bots, or stolen credit cards to offer LLM proxy services significantly below normal API pricing. The existence of this market requires LLM providers to tighten API key usage restrictions to prevent abuse and high bills.
Ruff v0.16.0
On July 23, 2026, Astral released a major update to the Ruff Python code linter, version v0.16.0, increasing the number of rules enabled by default from 59 to 413, and the total number of rules from 708 to 968. This update helps developers automatically identify syntax errors and runtime errors, improving code quality. For the sqlite-utils project, Ruff detected 1,618 errors, of which 1,538 have been fixed.
EU fines Google $1 billion for DMA competition violations, including making search results more useful.
The European Commission has made two decisions against Google for non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), imposing fines of €460 million and €430 million for prioritizing its own services in Google Search and restricting businesses from directing consumers to alternative purchasing channels. The Commission found that Google prioritized its own shopping, hotel, transport, and sports services in search results and prevented app developers from freely promoting cheaper alternative products, violating DMA rules.
Court grants SerpApi's motion to dismiss Google lawsuit.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled in favor of SerpApi, dismissing Google's lawsuit. This is not only a victory for SerpApi but also for everyone who relies on an open internet. The court rejected Google's attempt to use the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to control access to public web pages, emphasizing the importance of open access to available information. SerpApi will continue to support developers, AI companies, researchers, and businesses that depend on public search information.

'AI mania is eviscerating global decision-making.'
Many companies are currently failing in their artificial intelligence (AI) investments. Despite executives claiming productivity gains, the reality is that most projects have not succeeded. Over the past year and a half, the observed success rate for AI projects has been 0%, due to a widespread lack of effective software project management capabilities, and both internal and customer-facing chatbot applications have generally failed to gain acceptance from employees and consumers.
Measles cases hit a new record in the U.S., as stupid Americans reject vaccines.
As of this year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 2,318 confirmed measles cases, breaking last year's record. Experts say reversing the measles outbreak requires a nationwide increase in vaccination rates, but under the leadership of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., this prospect seems unlikely.

Opus 5 excels at handling complex tasks, autonomously developing computer vision pipelines to reconstruct 3D models, and shows improvements in discovering cybersecurity vulnerabilities, though it still lags behind Mythos 5 in exploiting these vulnerabilities.
★ Regarding Ad Blockers and Daring Fireball
Recently, author John Gruber, while discussing content blockers, discovered that NetNewsWire automatically omits text pointing to Apple ad links, preventing readers from seeing the full information. He noted that this behavior could mislead readers into thinking it is an editorial error rather than over-filtering by the content blocker. Gruber hopes content blockers can work more intelligently, blocking only what users intend to block, rather than inadvertently deleting important information.
Coiner of ‘Enshittification’ Endorses ‘Dickover’
In 2026, the term "dickover" was used to describe websites or applications that force users into unnecessary interactions, such as accepting privacy policies or installing apps. This phenomenon is particularly severe in the UK and the EU. Although GDPR allows websites to store user data under legitimate interests, many sites still violate user privacy by repeatedly displaying consent pop-ups. Users can improve their browsing experience and avoid these annoyances by using tools like Firefox's reading mode.
Sixers Sign LeBron James
LeBron James has decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year contract, a move that has sparked enthusiastic reactions from his teammates. James' addition is believed to make the 76ers a championship contender, especially after they already brought in Jaylen Brown. Although the team has not yet announced the regular season schedule, preseason ticket prices have already started at $305, reflecting fans' high expectations for James.

Dickover of the Week: Tomtoc
The internet is flooded with a design pattern called "dickover," which disrupts user experience by forcing unnecessary interactions, such as accepting cookies or subscribing to newsletters. This phenomenon is widespread on websites and mobile apps, affecting even personal blogs and well-known brands, causing great annoyance to users. The related "dickbar" is a milder distraction that only partially blocks content but still impacts the reading experience.
Interview with a Maintainer
In episode 214 of the Green Squares podcast, host Tyler talks with Erin Marsh about her experience as the maintainer of the libcapstan protocol. With 80 million downloads per month, Erin almost single-handedly manages the project. She mentions that although contributions from AI tools are increasing, code review remains a bottleneck. Currently, she receives about 10 security reports per month, of which only about 1 in 15 are genuine issues.
Becoming Skilled at Making Documents
Most business documents are of poor quality and often hard to understand. To address this, I created a "Better Documents" skill file to help people using large language model (LLM) tools generate more effective business documents. This skill evaluates document quality through five tests and generates new documents that follow best practices or reviews existing ones. It is completely free and open source, aiming to improve the practicality of documents.
Codeberg Divides
Codeberg recently changed its terms to ban most projects written by generative AI, a decision that has raised concerns about the future of the open source community. Although Codeberg has the right to make this decision, its vague definitions and reliance on community norms may lead to unwelcoming treatment of compliant projects, thereby affecting the diversity and innovation of open source software. The author hopes Codeberg can be more forward-looking and support future open source software, rather than only projects currently recognized by the community.
