We fixed an issue with the deleter constructor of unique_ptr that could throw an exception when creating it, but memory leaks still need attention. By constructing the deleter first and then creating the raw pointer, memory leaks caused by exceptions during deleter construction can be avoided. We will continue discussing other issues next time.

On July 29, 2026, Håkon Måløy discovered a new variant of prompt injection that can escalate prompt injection attacks against Microsoft Word into self-replicating worms. Attackers place hidden instructions in documents, which Copilot may misinterpret as part of a user request, thereby affecting the document being edited and copying these instructions into new documents, causing the instructions to trigger again in subsequent Copilot workflows. Microsoft has 144 days to fix the issue after responsible disclosure, but currently no mitigation covering all attack types has been found.
